As the most important military figure of the American Revolution and the leader of the 1787 Constitutional Convention, George Washington was uniquely poised to lead the fledgling American nation as its first president. With his overwhelming electoral college victory in 1789, Washington began an eight-year tenure as president, leading the United States of America through a sometimes rocky first decade. Washington, a staunch opponent of political parties, normalized relations with Great Britain through the Jay Treaty of 1795 and assisted with the creation of America’s political infrastructure.
The offered item is an 11 x 14 inch matted display, featuring a portrait of Washington displayed over a cut signature. The cut signature is in two parts, with “George” signed on one and “Washington” on the second. Washington has written his signature in black pen. Please note that the matting on this item is not attached. This historic document comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A81107).
