Presented is a gold-plated police badge from the original CBS television series “Hawaii Five-O”, which starred the late Jack Lord as Steve McGarrett and ran on the network from 1968 to 1980. The gold badge is embellished in blue enamel with the seal of the state of Hawaii at the center, and the legend “State of Hawaii Investigator Five-O Unit”. The 2 x 3-inch gold badge has an eagle engraved at the top. This item is accompanied by a July 5, 1974 LOA from the CBS Television Network’s Honolulu studios Director of Public Relations, addressed to the president of the Waikiki Lions Club, noting that this badge is “one of the rare, authentic ‘Hawaii Five-O’ badges given to you by Mr. Jack Lord for the Waikiki Lions’ Club’s annual charity auction. The CBS television network produced the show, which aired from September 20, 1968, to April 5, 1980. Created by Leonard Freeman, it was shot on location in Honolulu, Hawaii and throughout the island of Oahu and other Hawaiian Islands with occasional filming in locales such as Los Angeles, Singapore and Hong Kong. A successful remake debuted on CBS in 2010 and aired through the 2019-20 season.
