The 1973 New York Mets rode the catch phrase started by Tug McGraw “You Gotta Believe” to the National League Eastern Division title with an 82-79 record. The Mets than won a hard-fought (literally) series with the Cincinnati Reds, highlighted by a bench-clearing brawl that got started when Pete Rose slid hard into Bud Harrelson at second base during Game 3 at Shea Stadium. Like their up and down season, the Mets would ultimately lose in seven games against the Oakland A’s.

29 members of the 1973 National League champion New York Mets have signed this Official National League Charles S. Feeney stamped baseball. Signatures include Manager and Hall of Famer Yogi Berra on the sweet spot, Hall of Famers Tom Seaver and Willie Mays, Rusty Staub, Ed Kranepool, Jim Beauchamp, Tug McGraw, Ken Boswell, Duffy Dyer, Buzz Capra, Jerry Grote, Bud Harrelson, Gil Hodges, Jerry Koosman, Jon Matlack, Jim McAndrew, Roy McMillan, Felix Millan, John Milner, Harry Parker, Joe Pignatano, Ray Sadecki, John Strohmayer, Craig Swan, Ed Yost and one other. This item comes with a LOA from JSA.
