One of the more memorable speeches in sports history was the moving one given by former North Carolina State men’s basketball coach Jim Valvano at the 1993 ESPY Awards. Valvano, who was courageously battling metastatic adenocarcinoma, a type of glandular cancer, left an enduring legacy that still lives on today with his famous “Don’t Give Up! Don’t Ever Give Up!” slogan. He closed his speech that night at the ESPY’s with this lasting thought “Cancer can take away all my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart, and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever.”

To honor coach Valvano and his fight with cancer, all of the members of the 1992 Dream Team, the greatest basketball team ever assembled, signed this white USA BASKETBALL t-shirt in black marker to present to Jim Valvano and includes 16 signatures. This is an incredible piece of basketball history, showing that even rivals in some cases can come together. The signatures on this piece also include personal inscriptions to coach Valvano and have been signed by Hall of Famers Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Larry Bird (inscribed “To Jimmy Best Wishes”), Mike Krzyzewski (inscribed “JIMMY, WE’RE ALL PULLING FOR YOU!”), Chuck Daly (inscribed “Best Wishes/God Bless”), Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson (inscribed “Best of Luck”), Chris Mullin (inscribed “To Jimmy V. God Bless.”), Charles Barkley (inscribed “To My Friend Jim”), John Stockton (inscribed “To Coach V.), Lenny Wilkens (inscribed “To Jim God’s Blessing”), Karl Malone (inscribed “To Jim” and “#32”), David Robinson (inscribed “To Jim Best Wishes”, “50” and “COR 2:9”) and Clyde Drexler (inscribed “To Jimmy God Bless” and “#10”), along with the signatures of Christian Laettner (inscribed “To Coach V.!! Go NCST”, “4” and “32 Duke”) and P.J. Carlesimo. The jersey has been mounted on a dark blue background and framed to a dimension of 31 x 44 inches. “1992 Olympic Dream Team” is printed in black on a gold-colored plate at the bottom. In addition to being a touching tribute to a then-ailing coach, this is one of the rare items that has been signed by all players and coaches from that historic team. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AH04108) for the signatures and a letter of provenance from Leo Ostrosky, who in his letter states that he acquired this shirt at the 2004 Jimmy V Foundation Golf Formal and Auction to benefit the V Foundation. Please note that there is some chipping on the outer edges of the frame.

Due to the size and weight of this item, shipping costs will be higher.
