New York Mets third baseman Howard Johnson wore this blue Mets batting helmet circa 1986. Johnson, playing in his second year with the Mets in 1986, appeared in 88 games, hitting 10 homers with 39 RBI for the 108-54 Mets. The Mets would go on to win the World Series in 1986, giving Johnson his second World Series title in three seasons.
This helmet is blue, with a flap over the right ear. Johnson’s name is applied to the front of the brim and the back of the helmet. The padding on the back of the cranium is missing, but the remaining padding is present in the helmet. This American Baseball Cap helmet is a size 7 1/8, and it shows excellent use. Johnson has signed this helmet twice, once on the brim in silver marker and again over the right ear in gold, fine-tip marker. The Mets logo on the front of this helmet is peeling slightly. This helmet comes with a LOA from JT Sports for game use and a JSA STICKER ONLY (S21454) for the signatures.
