The 1932 Yankees were the last moment of glory for the old Murderer’s Row. Under the able management of Joe McCarthy, the Yanks stormed to the pennant behind the awesome combination of Ruth, Gehrig and Pennock representing the old guard and young Turks Ben Chapman, Lefty Gomez and Frank Crosetti. This volatile mix of old and young proved lethal to the Chicago Cubs whom the Yanks swept in 4 games, the series forever remembered for one of baseball’s greatest moments, Ruth’s called shot.
