The Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this gift by the International Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Foundation in 2016. Abdul-Jabbar was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia in 2008, however Abdul-Jabbar announced in 2011 that his cancer was “at an absolute minimum”, allowing the Lakers great to dedicate his resources to the eradication of this pernicious disease. The ICMLF presented this gift of thanks to Kareem in September of 2016. The gift measures 8 inches tall and stands on a 4 x 4-inch cherry red base. A rotating globe is the topper on this sublime award. A placard affixed to the base reads “Thank You Kareem / September 15, 2016”. This item comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
