Featured is a 1935 postcard signed the legendary Hall of Fame boxer, Jack Dempsey. A cultural icon of the 1920’s, Dempsey was a renowned heavyweight boxer who reigned as the champion from 1919 – 1926. Listed as one of the best boxers of all-time, according to the Ring Magazine, “Kid Blackie” recorded the first ever million-dollar gate, as his aggressive style made him a sight to behold. This postcard features his bout against Jess Willard, which won him the heavyweight gold on Independence Day, July 4, 1919. Dempsey would knock out Willard in Round 3 and would retain the championship crown until his loss to Gene Tunney in 1926! This postcard is from Jack Dempsey’s New York Restaurant, and he has signed the back in blue ink on the back and color rendering of the Willard fight is on the front. This postcard has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA (83281828) and has been graded AUTHENTIC.
