Offered is a Jack Johnson signature and inscription on the first interior page of his 1927 autobiography, “In the Ring - And Out”. The former world’s heavyweight boxing champion has inscribed “To My Pal Gilbert K. Cot Good Luck from Jack Johnson” in black pen. The July 1927 First Edition hardcover copy of the book, published by National Sports Publishing Company of Chicago, Illinois, has some browning of the pages due to age, and a loose binding at the title page, but is otherwise in good condition. The color book jacket is enclosed in a plastic cover. Nicknamed the Galveston Giant, Johnson was the first African American world heavyweight boxing champ, from 1908 to 1915. Among the period's most dominant champions, Johnson remains a boxing legend, with his 1910 fight against James J. Jeffries dubbed the "fight of the century". This item comes with a LOA from JSA.
