In 1962, both Jackie Robinson and Bob Feller were elected to the Hall of Fame on their first ballots. A total of 160 ballots were cast with 120 votes need for induction. Robinson received 124 votes (77.5%), while Feller received 150 votes (93.8 %). What’s interesting about this year was that there were 34 players who did not receive enough votes that would ultimately end up in the Hall of Fame in future years.

Presented is this 7 x 9 inch black and white photograph that features Jackie Robinson and Bob Feller holding up a “Welcome Aboard” sign that has caricatures of both players in their uniforms with a figure holding a “WELCOME” mat to the Hall of Fame. Both greats are standing at the base of a stairway of a United Airlines plane and both dressed in suits with heavy coats. Robinson is on the left and Feller is on the right, both smiling and looking slightly off-camera. Hand written on the back of this photograph in pencil is “JACKIE ROBINSON AND BOB FELLER INDUCTION INTO HALL OF FAME” at the top. The back of this photo displays toning and other markings. The photograph itself, given its age, only displays minor edge and corner wear. This photograph has been classified as a Type I photograph by PSA/DNA (1P06863).
