This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2017
Jackie Robinson was photographed here receiving the Benny Leonard Award for Good Sportsmanship in 1949. This was the same year he won the National League MVP Award after hitting 16 home runs with 124 RBI and a league-leading .342 batting average. The Hall of Fame second baseman is pictured wearing a tan suit and shaking hands with the trophy presenter. This black-and-white photograph is 5 ½ x 5 inches and encased in a 14 x 14 inch frame. Robinson signed the photograph over his body in black pen, adding the inscription, “Best Wishes.” This photograph comes with a prior JSA Auction Letter and has been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
