Jackie Robinson 70th anniversary auction to benefit JRF ending April 29
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2017
Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson signed this check on July 31, 1948, the same day that his Dodgers took on the Pittsburgh Pirates at Ebbets Field. Robinson had a quiet game, chipping in an RBI in an eventual 5-2 Dodger loss. 1948 was Robinson’s second in the Major Leagues as he finished the year with 12 homers, 85 RBI, and a .296 batting average.
At some other point on the 31st of July, Robinson signed this check addressed to Zellee Isum, the mother of his wife, Rachel Robinson (née Isum). The check is for seven dollars, although it was canceled. Robinson signed the bottom of the check in black steel-tip fountain pen. The check is in excellent condition, save for the cancellation holes. This item comes with a JSA LOA (Y92733).
