Michael Jordan & Summer Premium Auction Closing July 18 10PM Eastern
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 7/19/2020
Offered here is an Official National League William D. White stamped baseball that has been signed by two men that had the most influence on the life of Hall of Famer and legend Michael Jordan. James Jordan, Michael’s father, was tragically killed in the summer of 1993, prompting a greave-stricken Michael to retire from the NBA. James was instrumental in keeping Michael grounded and also instilled his love of baseball onto his son. Michael would soon sign a professional baseball contract with the Chicago White Sox following his retirement from the Bulls and the NBA. James Jordan signed this ball on the sweet spot with “James R. Jordan” in bold black fine-tipped marker. The other signature on this ball is on the side panel and was signed by Michael’s older brother Larry Jordan. The two brothers Larry and Michael are only 11 months apart and were very competitive growing up. Until Michael had his growth spurt and shot past his older brother in height, Larry was considered the better of the two players. So much so Laney High School coach Pop Herring was once quoted “Larry was so driven and so competitive an athlete that he had been 6’2” instead of 5’7”, I’m sure Michael would have been known as Larry’s brother instead of Larry always being known as Michael’s brother.” This ball displays toning, but the signatures are bold and clear. A great piece of Jordan family history and this comes with a LOA from JSA.
