Along with several others, James Watson contributed to the discovery of the structure of DNA in 1953, for which he was awarded a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. This envelope features a picture of Mariner 10, and reads: UNMANNED MARINER. Next to it, Watson has drawn a picture of a double helix DNA and inscribed “A = T G=C”.
