Presented is a Jimmie Foxx signature on a hotel receipt. The Hall of Fame first baseman has signed his name in black pen on the signature line of a 1¾ x 3¼-inch white cut which is pasted to a 3 x 5-inch white index card, which is then pasted on the back of a 3½ x 5½-inch postcard of his Hall of Fame plaque in Cooperstown, New York. The inscription above Foxx’s signature, also in black pen, misspells the former Philadelphia Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies star’s last name as “Fox.” Foxx became the second player in Major League Baseball history to hit 500 career home runs, after Babe Ruth. Attaining that plateau at age 32 years 336 days, he held the record for youngest to reach 500 for 68 years, until superseded by Alex Rodriguez in 2007. His three career Most Valuable Player awards are tied for second all-time. This item comes with a LOA from JSA.
