Joe Louis was one of the most fearsome boxers of his day, a crushing heavyweight who won 68 of his 71 career fights. He retired in 1949, after reigning as heavyweight champion for 140 months. In 1947, near the end of his career, Louis released this book, My Life Story. An autobiography, this book tells of Louis’ life growing up in Alabama and Detroit, and ending with his fight against Tami Mauriello in 1946. Louis signed the page after the title page in black pen. His signature is abundantly clear and presents very well. This item comes with a LOA from University Archives.
