This baseball was used on May 13th, 2004, during the Yankees 7-4 victory over the Anaheim Angels at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees victory was punctuated by home runs from Ruben Sierra, Hideki Matsui, and Bernie Williams, as Joe Lieber outlasted John Lackey to earn his second win of the young season. This was the 1,700th managerial win for Joe Torre, the Hall of Fame skipper of the Yankees. Torre would later become the only figure in Major League history to record over 2,000 career hits and 2,000 career managerial wins, finishing his illustrious career with 2,326 regular season wins and four World Series titles. Torre has signed the sweet spot of this Official Major League Baseball Allan H. Selig sphere in blue pen, inscribing “5-13-04” and “1700th Career Win” beneath his signature. This ball comes with a LOA from Yankee-Steiner Collectibles.
