Presented here is a pair of tailored khaki shorts worn by President John F. Kennedy. President Kennedy was an avid sailor his entire life, dating back to his childhood in Massachusetts. President Kennedy even won numerous boat races during his early life, including the 1936 Nantucket Sound Star Class Championship Cup. His relationship with the sea carried on throughout his life, as the future president was awarded a Purple Heart for his service in the United States Naval Reserve.

These khaki colored shorts were worn by President Kennedy during one of his many naval excursions. They are in good condition, although extensive use has stained the shorts somewhat. These shorts come with a LOA from Mary Barelli Gallagher, the secretary for Senator John F. Kennedy from 1953-1956 and the personal secretary for Jacqueline Kennedy from 1956-1964.
