A five-time All-Star first baseman, including three times with the Mets, Keith Hernandez helped lead New York to a World Series title in 1986. Now a beloved television analyst for the Mets, Hernandez was issued this MetLife “Met OF THE MONTH” award in May 1987. The 12x16-inch glass display, which is ¾ of an inch thick, features a Mets logo in the top-left corner and longtime mascot Snoopy from the popular Peanuts comic strip in top-right corner swinging a baseball bat. Below those images reads “MET LIFE,” “MET OF THE MONTH,” “KEITH HERNANDEZ,” “MAY” and “1987” over five lines, all etched into the underside of the glass surface. The award is accompanied by a 13-inch wood base holder to display the piece. A small chunk of glass is chipped out from the back, lower-left corner of the award. The impressive piece comes with an LOA from Keith Hernandez.
