On January 22nd, 2006, Kobe Bryant delivered one of the most impressive individual performances in NBA history by scoring 81 points in a regulation basketball game. The Lakers shooting guard’s total was second only to the unthinkable 100 points scored up by Wilt Chamberlain decades earlier. Bryant shot 28 of 46 from the floor, with an additional 18 points coming from the charity stripe. Bryant’s heroics pushed the Lakers to a 122-104 victory, in a season where wins were hard to come by. Helped by a scoring output of this magnitude, Bryant led the NBA in scoring during the 2006-07 season with a healthy 31.6 points per game. Bryant signed this Spalding official game ball in silver marker. He added the inscription “81 pts // 1/22/06”. A “25/81” inscription is added near this, indicating the limited edition status of this basketball. This item comes with a COA from Panini Authentics (PA31170).
