The Pride of Lower Merion High School, Kobe Bryant entered the NBA straight from high school. Selected 13th overall in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Vlade Divac, Bryant won the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest that immediately raised his profile in the NBA. Bryant would spend all 20 seasons with the Lakers and win five NBA titles, two Finals MVP Awards, was named the 2008 NBA MVP, and earned 18 All-Star selections. The two-time NBA scoring champion was also known for his tenacious play on defense and was named to nine NBA All-Defensive First Teams. The late Bryant was posthumously inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.
