At the pinnacle of the Los Angeles Lakers “Showtime” dynasty, the Lakers teams of the 1980s were the NBA’s answer to the Harlem Globetrotters featuring a fast-break offensive style accentuated by Magic Johnson’s no-look passes and a five man weave drill put into practice during games. The Lakers made seven appearances in the NBA Finals from 1980 to 1988 winning five titles culminating with back-to-back championships in 1987 and 1988. This like-new 10k Balfour salesman’s sample, model of the Los Angeles Lakers 1997-1998 championship ring contains Johnson’s name engraved in raised lettering above a Lakers logo relief and a “Lakers 4” and “Pistons 3” game score of the 1988 finals on the left shank with “Back to BacK” and “1987” and “1988” flanking a blue, gold and red NBA logo on the right. A Large cubic zirconia is at the center of the ring’s top over a purple gem stone encircled by a ring of cubic zirconias with the words: “World Champion Lakers 1988” is in raised lettering around the perimeter. “LBG” and “10K” are engraved in the interior band and the size 11.5, 33.7-gram ring comes in a black cardboard jeweler’s box.
