Billy Gardner played 10 seasons in the Major Leagues and was part of two World Series Championships, the first being as a role player for the 1954 New York Giants. As a member of this team, which swept the vaunted Cleveland Indians 111 win squad, Gardner was presented with this ring. The face has a single diamond surrounded by “1954 WORLD CHAMPIONS”. One shank has the four scores of the Series “5-2 3-1 6-2 7-4” along with a raised image of the Polo Grounds, and the year “1954”. The other shank has the Giants logo and the year “1954”. Inside the 14K gold, size 11/33.5 gram ring is the player name “William Gardner” and the manufacturers stamp “BALFOUR 14K”. Worn proudly over the decades, the ring shows moderate wear with a few of the “runs” on one shank worn down (but still visible) along with general wear on the logo and other raised areas. Still, this ring presents very well and is a rare player ring from this tremendous New York Giants World Series team, the only Series title won in New York for the Willie Mays led Giants.
