Widely regarded as the greatest rapper and hip hop artist ever, Tupac Shakur saw his talent-filled career cut short when he was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996. Tupac, who sold over 75 million records and was regarded as one of the top 100 artists of all-time by Rolling Stone in 2012, signed this extremely rare Massachusetts General Life Insurance Company, in bold, black ink. The 8 ½ x 11-inch document, originally dated “09/01/92” in the top right corner of the policy, was signed by Shakur on “10/13/92” as indicated on the form. The document, a delivery notice addressed to Tyehimba, includes Shakur’s policy number (1090060577) and deposit amount ($65.89), and also is signed by Tyehimba. Tupac's longtime friend and manager Watani Tyehimba was the addressee on the policy. Included with the insurance policy is a signed affidavit by Atron Gregory, president of TNT Recordings and former manager of Tupac, verifying that the insurance document “originates directly from my personal archives and/or archives that I personally know.” Gregory also signed an approximately 8x10-inch color photo of himself and Shakur together. This incredible insurance document signed by one of music’s most influential figures comes with a full JSA LOA, certification number “Y08987.”
