As one of the leading icons in Major League Baseball and American history, Jackie Robinson signed items - especially single signed baseballs are in very high demand. While Robinson’s signature is often seen on team signed Brooklyn Dodgers items, it is far tougher to find a single signed ball of the great Jackie Robinson. Offered here is a superb example of this highly desirable item, a single signed Official National League Ford Frick baseball. Signed “Jackie Robinson” with bold blue ink at the top of a side panel, his usual spot for these items. This ball was manufactured during the 1947-1951 period, and it is conceivable Robinson signed this baseball during his Rookie of the Year season of 1947. This is when he broke baseballs long standing color barrier, or even during his National League Most Valuable Player season of 1949. The ball’s stampings are extremely nice and the ball remains in Near Mint or better condition. The signature grades at (“8/10”) in strength, and is one of the nicest single signed Jackie Robinson baseballs we have handled. There are areas of ball with different levels of toning and surface wear and it is possible a signature has long faded or rubbed away, although JSA which authenticated this ball in August of 2014 does not mention any signature removals on the ball.
