Encased and sealed by Leaf. Hall of Famer. A precise example of a distinguished signature is seen on this letter cut penned by Alexander Cartwright (1820-1892). Cartwright has, for years, been known informally as "The Father of Baseball," and his accomplishments include the formation of the (New York) Knickerbocker Base Ball Club in 1842. The latter part of Cartwright's life was spent in Hawai'i, where he wrote – about a month before he passed away – the letter from which this desirable signature was taken. A congratulatory statement on the card's back attests to the authenticity of the signature, and serves as Leaf's COA. The limited-edition piece is serial-numbered "1/1." Fresh, essentially uncirculated display quality.
