Encapsulated and assessed "Authentic" by SGC. Hall of Famer. The American Card Catalog (ACC) designated the prefix-letter "W" to a class of cards – issued during the 1920s and 1930s – that were sold to the public through various outlets in the form of uncut strips or sheets. Though crudely produced, subjects included the biggest stars of the era in both sports and entertainment. Today, these collectibles are scarcely found in a credible state; surviving singles were most often manhandled at the time of separation and further abused, thereafter. This hand-cut memento features a detailed, IFC-copyrighted image of The Babe. Notably, with W516-2-2's characteristic "reversed-image" idiosyncrasy on full display, Ruth appears in this portrayal as a right-handed pitcher! A fascinating and rare "type" and "variation" card, and a very desirable, seldom-encountered Babe Ruth item, the piece displays generally fresh presentation attributes and slightly overzealous removal of material at the borders.
