Beginning the 1987 season with 495 home runs, Philadelphia Phillies slugging third baseman Mike Schmidt hit three home runs in the same game against the Montreal Expos on June 14, 1987 to move into a tie with Mel Ott at 511 and passed Ernie Banks (512) and Eddie Mathews (512) becoming the all-time home run leader at the third base position when he knocked this Rawlings A. Bartlett Giamatti Official National League Ball for his 513th career blast off Atlanta Braves pitcher Zane Smith at Fulton County Stadium on July 9, 1987. Caramel colored ball is marked with the number “513” in black marker on a side panel and carries a “#513 Banks Mathews All Time Third Base” inscription in purple ballpoint pen, shows good game use and comes with a notarized letter of authenticity from Mike Schmidt.
