The line-drive hitting and slick fielding prowess of Keith Hernandez is considered by many to have been the key that led to the New York Mets’ dynamic World Series crown in 1986. This great piece is a throwback-style road jersey, heavy flannel, button-front with felt letters and numbers. It displays the Olde English-style “NEW YORK” arched across the chest in royal blue with orange trim; Hernandez’ name is similarly arched above his number “17” on back, and the “C” denoting his status as team captain adorns the left breast. Hernandez has signed below the “York” on front, and included “1st Team Captain” below in blue Sharpie. Considering the coarseness of the material, the signature is in tremendous condition and this is a great memento for fans of the perennial Gold Glove first baseman.
