From his debut game in 1890 in which he threw a 3 hitter, Cy Young set the bar for modern day pitchers. Young went on to start an unbelievable 815 games, winning 511 of them all the while holding opposing batters to a 2.63 ERA. His records seem almost unfair to the modern fan - 7,356 inning pitched, 749 complete games, 25 1/2 consecutive hitless inningsā¦ when the Hall of Fame was founded in 1937 his induction vote was a mere formality. This 3x5 index card has been signed by the game's greatest pitcher in strong black fountain pen. The "Y" in the signature was smudged a bit from when Cy originally signed it, but this does not take away from the strong display value of this piece. The reverse has the modest pencil notation "HOF Pitcher won 511". Letter of Authenticity from JSA.
