Statesman, Politician, Nobel laureate and Prime Minister of the United Kingdome from 1940-1945 and again from 1951-1955, Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill was a primary mover in international politics before, during and after World War II, who helped create the allied strategy with United States President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Soviet Union General Secretary Joseph Stalin that ultimately led to the defeat of Adolph Hitler’s Axis powers. This Lloyds Bank of Limited check No. M5693, has a horse symbol and the word “Cavalry” printed on its left side and is dated London 4 January 1963 is made payable to the Lancaster Memorial Fund in the amount of Five Pounds and signed by Churchill in steel tip fountain pen ink and is accompanied by a typed note on a 4” x 8” sheet of Lloyds Bank Limited stationary dated 17th July, 1963 and reads: Dear Sir, Acting upon instructions of Sir Winston Churchill I have pleasure in enclosing the cheque he made out in favour of the “Lancastria” Memorial Fund, which I understand you would like to have for souvenir purpose of the organization.
