Known to most as the Father of American Literature, Mark Twain stated out his life as Samuel Clemens and traveled all over the country where he gained much of the experiences seen in his novels. Clemens even took his penname from a the leadsman's cry for a measured river depth of two fathoms, which was safe water for a steamboat, "mark twain." Offered is an exceptional signature from the acclaimed author, scripted "Samuel L. Clemens" at the base of the check. The partially printed 7-3/4" by 2-3/" check is dated July 2, 1875 and authenticated by PSA/DNA with a grade of GEM MINT 10 on the signature.
