Who better for aspiring young baseball players in the Boston area to model their games after than Red Sox Hall of Fame outfielder Ted Williams? That was the hope and dreams of young boys from the ages 7-17 who attended the "Ted Williams Camp" in Lakeville, Mass., just 42 miles south of Beantown. The camp originated in 1959, according to historical records, and survived all the way into the early 1980s. This vintage jacket, presumably issued to participants at the event, likely dates back to the camp's early years. The navy blue polyester jacket features a stitched patch on the left chest that reads "TED WILLIAMS CAMP, LAKEVILLE BASEBALL CAMP INC., LAKEVILLE, MASS." The collar, sleeves and pockets are highlighted by red, white and blue accents, while the front boasts seven button fasteners, all of which remain intact. No manufacturer or size markings are present, though the jacket clearly is designed for a youth. The jacket is free of any rips and remains in strong condition for a collector.
