This is an original script from the iconic television show “The Adventures of Superman,” first televised in 1952 starring George Reeves in the lead role as Clark Kent / Superman. This rare script was written for episode 1/season 2 and is titled, “Five Minutes to Doom,” which originally aired on September 18, 1953. Season two also premiered actress Noel Neill (her first appearance) in the popular role of Lois Lane, Kent’s colleague at the “Daily Planet” newspaper in the fictional city of Metropolis. Neill previously portrayed Lois in the 1948 film serial “Superman” and the 1950 film serial “Atom vs. Superman.” The show was based on the comic book characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938. The script is complete with notes and changes penciled in from Director Thomas Carr. The 45 page script with its original cover has been placed in a protective outer binding and originates from the archive of famous Superman collector Jim Hambrick whose collection dating from 1959, resides in the famous Superman Museum which he founded in Metropolis, Illinois. In this episode, Clark Kent and Lois Lane interview a man on death row who they come to realize is innocent and search for a way to clear him. This is an incredible archive from this groundbreaking television show that still maintains a strong cult following today.
