The 1950 season marked the first time Phillies fans had a team to brag about since the days of Grover Cleveland Alexander in the 1910's. Dubbed "The Wiz Kids" for their youth and enthusiastic play, Dick Sisler's homer snatched the pennant away from the favored Brooklyn Dodgers in the 10th inning of the last day of the season. Sisler is present on this ball as are their two young aces: Hall of Famer Robin Roberts and Curt Simmons. Star reliever and 1950 NL MVP Jim Konstanty has signed as well as Hall of gamer center fielder Richie Ashburn. Other Whiz Kids include: Ken Silvestri, Jimmy Bloodworth, Putsy Caballero, Dick Whitman, Willie Jones, Granny Hamner, Blix Donnelly, Bill Nicholson, Bubba Church, Del Ennis, Andy Seminick, Jackie Mayo, Stan Hollmig and Mike Goliat. The ball is a Phillies souvenir baseball and all 19 players have signed in strong blue ball point. Ball is in nice condition with a nice patina from age and the previous owner has inscribed the sweet spot with "1950 PHILLIES" and "THE WHIZ KIDS". LOA from James Spence Authentication.
