Combining the native sound of Jamaica and the driving beat of American Rhythm and Blues, Bob Marley and the Wailers created a whole new genre of music. Bob Marley and the reggae sound he pioneered exploded during the 1970's, inspiring musicians as diverse as Eric Clapton and The Clash. Marley's 1977 record "Exodus" has sold more than 75 million copies and his image and influence has only continued to grow more than 30 years after he died. His tragic murder in 1981 meant that not only will there never be another Marley record but that there are very few authentic autographs of the man who invented reggae. The image the original owner picked to have the reggae great sign couldn't have been more fitting to the man's personality. Marley peers into the camera with a serene yet confident gaze, his arms crossed over his bare chest. The 4x6 black and white photo has been signed in blue fiber tip marker "To Pat Love Bob Marley". The signature is strong against the warm sepia tones of the period photo. The piece has been professionally matted in red, yellow and green reggae colors surrounded by a larger black matte and framed to 11" x 13 1/2". Letter of Authenticity Y45160 from JSA.
