This game-used Official Major League (Selig) ball was sent deep by the slugger in the second inning of the Detroit Tigers’ eventual 7-6 loss to the Sox at Comerica Park. The ball shows use from Shef’s eighth homer of the year, and the 488th of a career that would see him close the following season with a total of 509, putting him in elite company in MLB history.
