This lot contains a somewhat unusual pair of autographed baseballs. One, distributed by Topps, is a “Rookie Ball” signed in blue marker on the sweet spot by Mickey Mantle. The opposite panels feature images from “The Mick’s” Topps Rookie Card in 1952, with one side sporting the color front image of the baby-faced Mantle, and the opposite featuring the reverse of that card. The other is a “Fotoball” with opposing panels bearing images of Mantle and Don Mattingly. Each player has autographed beneath his color photo, with Mick in blue ballpoint and Mattingly in black marker. Another panel is stamped indicating the ball is part of a Celebrity Sports Auction, benefitting the Children’s Health Fund and Brooklyn Sports Foundation. Each comes with certification of authenticity.
