Where to start with this one-of-a-kind piece? This ball began its life as a collectible with the signature of “Joe DiMaggio, Yankee Clipper” on the sweet spot. Enter artist Charles Fazzino, who put his unique and distinctive touches on the “horsehide canvas” to make this a collectible for the ages. One panel features a terrific full-color likeness, above which is inscribed “the Unforgettable Season” with a bejeweled “56” just below, referring to his legendary hitting streak that may never be broken. The remainder of the ball is adorned with tributes to DiMaggio and the Yankees, including a brief bio, a raised Yankees logo, and the signature of the artist himself, along with the date of creation, 2013.
