On the heels of his extraordinary 1955 minor-league season (27 wins, 1.99 ERA), pitcher Red Murff had a brief 2-year stint in the majors (1956-57), then finished out his career in the minors. Manufactured by Balfour, Murff's 10K-gold, size-10 ring from the '59 Louisville Colonels is engraved inside the band with his initials, "J R M." Near Mint condition. Accompanied by vintage Balfour presentation box and Murff's 2004 signed LOA reading, "I, John 'Red' Murff, was the Sporting News minor league pitcher of the year in 1955. I played for the Milwaukee Braves in 1956 and 1957 before playing a few more seasons of minor league ball, including winning a championship with Louisville of the American Association. I then went on to become a professional scout, where I signed over 200 players in 33 years, including Nolan Ryan. I do attest that this is the original American Association championship ring that was awarded to me in 1959."
