Wonderfully ornate temporary stock certificate from the Solar Arc Light Company signed twice by Jacob Ruppert. Before Ruppert purchased the New York Yankees he was a wildly successful businessman with fingers in a variety of industries: brewing, silk manufacturing, real estate - and arc lighting. This certificate, representing three shares, dated February 15, 1906 coincides with his tenure as a United States Representative from New York's 16th Congressional District. The future Yankee owner and Hall of Famer has signed the certificate twice - once on the front and again on the reverse. Both signatures are in strong black fountain pen.
