While almost any given season in Pedro Martinez’s career ably demonstrates his Hall of Fame numbers, 2000 was his finest. His 18-6 record came at the expense of American League batters who could hit no better than .167 against him – a modern era record. He struck out 17 Rays in a game, then turned around and whiffed 15 Orioles in his next start. Some experts call his 2000 season the best single season performance in the history of the game.
