Lou Gehrig famously addressed the Yankee Stadium crowd in his “Luckiest Man in the World” speech on July 4, 1939. The Yankees planned to honor their stricken hero with the unveiling of his memorial exactly two years later to the date. Unfortunately, Gehrig passed on June 2, 1941, and the memorial game was rained out, forcing the ceremony to be held two days later, on July 6. This 2.5x3.5” stub bears an image of the Yankee legend, and is a bleacher ticket for the going rate of just 55 cents. Ironically, the stub, which has some creasing but is in excellent condition, prominently displays “RAIN CHECK” on the front. An amazing memento of one of the most poignant stretches in American sports history.
