The late Tony Gwynn, an eight-time NL batting champion who earned 15 All-Star nominations and five Gold Glove awards, was an easy choice as a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2007. Gwynn, a career .338 hitter, donned this signed, game-used San Diego Padres button-down road jersey in 2001, his final season in Major League Baseball. Gwynn signed the reverse side “1” of his number “19” jersey in bold, silver sharpie. “SAN DIEGO” is featured across the chest in navy blue on white and orange tackle twill. “GWYNN” appears across the top back of the jersey in navy blue tackle twill just below a memoriam American Flag patch honoring the victims of 9/11. Gwynn’s number “19” is found on the center back of the jersey in navy blue on white and orange tackle twill. The left sleeve of the jersey boasts a San Diego Padres Baseball Club patch, while the front tail is home to a “Russell Athletic Authentic Collection” manufacturer’s label. Below is a size “50” and “100% POLYESTER” tag. The jersey shows moderate signs of game use, comes with a COA signed by Alicia Gwynn, PSA/DNA LOA and LOA from noted sports jersey expert Dave Miedema.
