New York Mets fans can vividly recall Dwight Gooden bursting on the big league scene as a fire-balling, teenage phenom who won the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 1984. This tri-image original oil painting was created by renowned sports artist Robert Stephen Simon during Gooden’s remarkable follow-up Cy Young award winning season of 1985 and captures the essence of the “Dr. K” frenzy. The 24” x 30” painting is signed by Gooden in black felt tip marker and by the artist in yellow oil paint at the bottom right hand corner with a “© ‘85” inscription. The artist’s name, address and telephone number are written on the back of the pulled canvas frame; comes with PSA/DNA LOA.
