Known simply as “The Franchise,” Tom Seaver started the 1971 New York Mets’ season in typical fashion, with a 4-2 victory over the Montreal Expos. What wasn’t typical was the Tom Terrific was credited with a 5-inning complete game, as rain shortened the festivities. This Official National League (Feeney) ball was used in that contest and is autographed by the Hall of Famer along with “Open Day Game Ball @ Shea” and “Mets 4, Expos 2” in clear ballpoint pen. Also inscribed in unknown hand is “4.6.71.” Comes with JSA Auction and MEARS LOAs.
