The 2001 season saw Tony Gwynn wrap up his two-decade long career, all with the San Diego Padres, while teammate Rickey Henderson was on just one of his eight stops during his 25 year tenure. The two crossed historic paths on October 7 of that year, when Gwynn played his final game on the same day that saw Henderson collect his 3,000th career hit. Both players have signed this Official Major League (Selig) ball, with Gwynn adding the inscription “Last Game 10/7/2001.” Henderson’s signature is accompanied by “3000 Hit Game Ball” in unknown hand.
