Intellectually gifted, Eddie Collins enrolled at Columbia University in 1903 as a 135-pound 16-year-old. Not only was he the Lions' starting shortstop, but their quarterback as well! Decades later, toward the very end of his life, Collins received this elegant alumni medal engraved with his name. The back reads, "FOR CONSPICUOUS COLUMBIA ALUMNI SERVICE 1947." Attached to a brightly hued patriotic ribbon hanger to total dimensions of 3-1/8" x 1-1/4". Beautiful EX/MT preservation.
