President John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States of America was assented by Lee Harvey Oswald, while traveling with his motorcade in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. News of his death shocked the nation and the world, and changed American politics forever. Presented, is the press kit for Kennedy’s Texas Welcome Dinner that was scheduled to happen later that same evening in Austin, Texas. The press kit comes in a white pocket folder with an E. Pluribus Unum seal printed at the top. The folder itself measures 9” x 14” and its contents include a time schedule for Kennedy’s visit to Austin, the route his motorcade will take when leaving for Austin from Bergstrom Air Force base, and the order in which his motorcade will line up when leaving the base. The typed press release inside the the folder supplies the media with information about Kennedy’s planned visit and promotes the sale of tickets to the dinner. Also, the kit makes mention of other prominent guests who will be present at the welcome dinner for the President. Interestingly, this press kit states, “The $100-a-plate dinner marks the first time a President of either major political party has come to Texas to help raise funds for his party’s campaign chest.” Included is 18 original pages that are contained within the folder, the press releases all measure either 8.5” x 11” or 8.5” x 14.” Item comes with a COA from Nate D.
