Post-season play has often been the make or break of who is and who isn’t perceived as a great ball player. The Giants’ third baseman Pablo Sandoval is one of those special players. A solid .300 hitter throughout his seven-year career and a consummate team player during the regular season, it is in the post season that he truly comes alive. In the three post seasons Sandoval participated in (all culminating in a Giants World Championship), Sandoval maintained a .344 average. No Series was his bat more in evidence than the 2014 World Series against Kansas City. The Panda hit an enviable .429 despite being stricken up with the flu.
Sandoval used this bat ,his final game as a Giant at ATT Park, during the Giants Game 5-0 victory over the Royals. The Panda went 2 for 4 and scored a pair of runs. The bat displays excellent use and is un-cracked. Sandoval has signed the bat in silver pen and inscribed it with “Game Used 2014 World Series Game #5 Last Game ATT Park”. A great World Series bat from the guy who hit .429 to help the Giants win their third championship in 6 years. PSA/DNA have given this stick their highest grade of GU 10 (1B09437).
